In my time at McKinsey, easily half the people who left the firm went into the financial world (from hedge funds to PE), and salary was undoubtedly a major factor in the decision. I interviewed with a number of top firms, and despite feeling well prepared, I wasn't invited to the next round. The first key insight that I got from your resources was the importance of understanding how consultants (the interviewers) think. I had thought doing 7 or 8 'live' cases was good practice.
