Consultingcaseinterviews require lots of preparation. Although you will hear of some geniuses who aced their cases after only one week of preparation, this is probably not true for us mere mortals. Maybe you will catch a bad day during the interview and will go home without the offer. How should you proceed?
The biggest challenge of getting into a consultancy is the caseinterviews. Fortunately, there are numerous resources to help you prepare for these caseinterviews. It does not mean that applicants prepare too well, but rather that they do too many cases without focusing on individual areas for improvement.
One of the most difficult tasks in a caseinterview is to ask the right questions at the beginning of the case. As a result, this don’t really help them to solve the case. However, the goal of the questions must be to scope the subsequent structure and tailor it exactly to the case at hand.
Case coaching is an industry of its own. It seems like coaching is a necessary part of the consultinginterview prep process and without it you don’t have a chance of getting an offer. It can be a tough decision as the price point for case coaching can be very high (10x more than the average hourly wage in the US).
