Here's a question that I received by email this week: What are the rules for giving part of your profits from a fundraiser to another nonprofit? I think the bigger question here is the ethical one. As a nonprofit, these remaining assets cannot be taken as profits; they must remain with a 501(c)(3) (or similar) organization.
First off, this is just accepted professional practice in the nonprofit industry. But, most importantly, it is a matter of ethics. The organization wants a consultant to lend credibility to a decision that has already been made, for example, the Board of Directors has decided to reorganize the nonprofit, but the Chief Executive Officer disagrees – so the Board hires a consultant to lend expert credibility to their decision. Buying and selling mailing lists is a perfectly legal activity, but it is not without ethical issues. Does your nonprofit organization sell your donor lists? It is a much better policy for the nonprofit to be the pro-active one. Personally, I don't think nonprofits should ever be selling their donor lists.
Leisure social ties are identified if two individuals maintain membership in the same country club or serve the same charity, university, government, military, or other nonprofit association. Work ties exist if two individuals worked in the same company. Second, increased diversity in the workplace is a central issue of debate.

One of the ethical considerations for any consultant is to avoid creating a dependency of the client on the consultant – where the client cannot capably participate in the organization without the ongoing services of the consultant.
