According to Business Insider , the odds of getting hired by McKinsey & Company are less than 1%, although this is not unique to McKinsey. To secure a final round interview at Bain, you would have to be in the top 3% of applicants for that office. Certain things cannot be enhanced or improved on in the interview process.
As you’ve likely already figured out, the case interview is a very unusual creature. Interestingly, however, we were trained at MBB that doing a project for more time gets you NOWHERE. Besides, McKinsey doesn’t make more if you work 60 hours a week – they get paid a flat rate per project, not by the hour.
