Ahab, a world-renown fishing expert from Piscandi Consulting receives the following email: Hi Ahab, I’m Ishmael from Beldad Industries. Our catch rate is down 12% versus last year. Can you help us? If you’re Ahab, could you close that project? Should you? Well, I’ll tell you what I think… I have no idea. You see, I don’t know whether Ishmael’s project is a minnow, a redfish, a yellowfin tuna or a whale shark.

Every speaker dreams of taking the TED stage – or at least this speaker did! As a professional speaker, it’s a great honor to be asked to speak at a TEDx event, to share your “idea worth spreading” with the world and hopefully inspire your audience with your message. In November of 2014 I was honored with the invitation to speak at a TEDx event, which was to be hosted by the City of LA’s Emergency Management Department in March 2015.
Last week I attended the "What Really Matters" webinar from Abila to discuss the findings in their latest Donor Engagement Study. On of the key points that should be obvious, but bears repeating, is that Content is King.

When he brought me in to help, I asked him the same question I’m posing now for you: what’s the single most important attribute of your target prospects?

This post is for those of you who like the “inside baseball” type of posts. All others are free to pass. Relaunching the KillerConsultant – a personal tale. Once upon a time, there was a consultant who had a family. That would be me. Since registering for killerconsultant.com, almost 8 years have passed. Boy, have things changed. I can still vividly remember my first consulting assignment, back then at a large high tech company.

What am I supposed to do so my writing actually is read? What is your advice to this consultant? Is it even worth publishing blogs and articles in today’s cacophonous environment? Please share your thoughts below.

A consultant sent me the following question: I have been approached by a company that wants to market through affiliates. Every time I post on antonymous trucks, I get dozens of emails from people telling me that self-driving trucks will not happen for at least 10 more years, if ever. People cite insurance, driving skills, city traffic, changing road patterns, faulty radar, etc. My typical reply is things will likely happen far faster than even I envision. I had originally intended to ask Nigel some questions about Pottinger and its recruitment process, but I thought better of it.
*See bottom of post for updates. Earlier this week, an oil pipeline burst on the coast of Santa Barbara, California, resulting in more than 20,000 gallons of crude oil spilling across 9 miles of shoreline.
